Since I posted this, Petfinder has reversed its change and is now letting viewers see out-of-area animals again. And I've had further experience with a south Texas pound where individual dogs would be better off if transported. But the main point remains. Transport is not a solution; it's a stopgap measure and should only be used if it improves an animal's chances of a good life. And if animals are transported, we should still be advocating for reforms that improve sheltering and quality of life in the sending communities.
